Tools that help you stay in control

  • Deposit limits. Set daily, weekly or monthly limits in your casino account before you start.
  • Time limits and reality checks. Use session reminders if the site offers them, or set a timer on your phone.
  • Cooling-off and self-exclusion. Take a break for a set period, or close your account for longer. Ask customer support if you can't find the option.
  • Blocking software. Install a gambling blocker on your devices.
  • Bank controls. Ask your bank whether it can block gambling transactions on your accounts.

Warning signs

  • Spending more money or time than you intended.
  • Chasing losses, or feeling you need to win it back.
  • Borrowing money or using bill money to gamble.
  • Hiding your gambling from family or friends.
  • Feeling anxious, irritable or low when you're not gambling.

If any of these sound familiar, reach out to one of the services above. Talking to someone early makes a real difference.

Simple rules for safer play

  1. Only gamble with money you can afford to lose.
  2. Decide your budget and time before you start, and stick to them.
  3. Never gamble to pay bills or clear debts.
  4. Don't gamble when you're upset, stressed or have been drinking.
  5. Take regular breaks, and balance gambling with other activities.

Helping someone else

If someone close to you is struggling, the services above can support family and friends too. Gambling Support BC, for example, says its help covers your own gambling or a loved one's.
