Ontario online casinos: how the regulated market works

Ontario is the one Canadian province with an open, regulated market for private online casino operators. Here's how it works, and how to check that a site is part of it.

Checked 26 September 2026 · Independent guide · 19+ (18+ in AB, MB, QC)

Important for Ontario readers

We don't claim that any casino listed on 77betcasino.com is registered with iGaming Ontario or the AGCO. If you live in Ontario, check iGaming Ontario's directory and choose a site from it.

Who regulates online casinos in Ontario?

Two public bodies share the job:

  • The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) sets and enforces the standards operators must meet, and registers operators.
  • iGaming Ontario contracts with registered operators to offer igaming in the province.

According to iGaming Ontario, being a fully registered and authorized operator means receiving a registration from the AGCO and, apart from OLG.ca, signing an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario. That's what makes a site part of Ontario's regulated market.

How to find a regulated Ontario casino

  1. Visit iGaming Ontario's regulated igaming market directory.
  2. Search for the site you're thinking of joining. When we checked on 26 September 2026, the directory listed 49 operators and 84 gaming websites.
  3. Make sure the web address you use matches the one in the directory.
  4. Sign up only if you're 19 or older and physically located in Ontario.

Rules that apply to Ontario players

  • Age: 19+.
  • Location: you must be physically in Ontario to play on the province's regulated sites.
  • Protections: regulated sites must follow the AGCO's standards, including responsible gambling measures. You can read them on the AGCO website.

What this means for the sites on our guide

The casinos we list accept Canadian players, and we've checked what we could about each one. But we haven't verified that any of them is part of Ontario's regulated market, and we don't claim they are. Our featured sites are UK-licensed; that's a different thing from being registered in Ontario.

If you live outside Ontario, your province sets its own rules, and many provinces run their own government sites. See our best online casinos in Canada guide for how we rank sites, and our payments guide for what we verified about deposits and withdrawals.
